“Flu Proofing”

You know when you’re in a public place, minding your own business and going about your day, and then you sneeze or cough and everyone looks at you, wide-eyed and in sheer disbelief that you could ever commit such a heinous act!! I mean, I know wintertime has always been pretty rough, but the last few winters have hit a little different, right?

Amidst a global pandemic, our health -specifically our immunity- has been at the center of many conversations about what personal wellness truly means. Through these conversations, it has become increasingly evident that strengthening our immunity must be a priority for everyone.

Here are a few quick and easy tips you can incorporate into your day to boost your immunity, naturally:

1)     Food is Your First Medicine:

1)Whether its eating powerful antiviral allium-rich foods like onions and garlic, incorporating leafy greens that are full of phytonutrients, or piling on the gut healing prebiotics, food is and always has been the key to optimizing your immunity. Food is our first line of defense against viruses, so paying attention to the quality of what you use to fuel you will significantly impact your immune health, especially in the winter.

2)     Sleeping is Healing:

Healthy sleeping habits ensure your body has the opportunity to rest and reset. Getting the bare minimum shouldn’t be an option when it comes to sleep because it sets the foundation for your entire day, and if you’re running low on energy, try to find 15 minutes to get a quick power nap in!

3)     Get Moving:

Being physically active in the winter is just plain hard! You don’t want to go outside when it’s cold so how can you get moving without having to freeze your fanny off? Try some opportunistic exercises like stretches and wall sits throughout your workday or taking the stairs whenever possible -perhaps even using them as a mini gym for those who work from home! If you have the ability, try going to the gym or out for a breath of fresh air. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, just get up, get moving, for at least 10-30 minutes a day!

4)     An Infrared Sauna to Rejuvenate:

What better way to stay warm and healthy this winter than by hitting the sauna; did you know that raising your body’s core temperature by 1-2 degrees helps boost the production of white blood cells which are key in fighting off disease. But instead of just getting the health benefits of heat, why not reap the dual benefits of infrared light as well? Infrared light has the ability to penetrate human tissue which has numerous health benefits such as pain relief, detoxification, cardiovascular benefits, and much more. This beautiful harmony of optimal heat and infrared light make infrared saunas twice as effective for boosting your body’s natural healing abilities and preventing disease.

5)     Mindset is Everything:

Having a positive attitude and outlook are fundamental ways to boost your immunity because they help keep your stress levels down. Reducing the negative effects of stress has a big impact on your overall wellness and health so whether its meditation, spending time with family and friends, walking your dog, reading a book, or going for a run – whatever your release- spend time doing that to help bring balance and peace into your life.

Supercharge your wellness and give yourself a fully loaded immunity arsenal by making a few simple changes to your daily habits, your body will thank you!
